Tonight I (23M) was watching the show “Suits” with my girlfriend (22F). I have watched this show a couple times previously by myself, before I had ever met my girlfriend. We just started season 4 together, and apparently I am the asshole for watching a scene that involved harvey and another girl. Nothing explicit is shown in suits, but there was a scene a few seconds long where you can see another girls butt, and apparently I am the asshole for not looking away immediately during a scene that was two seconds long. I had no memory of this scene coming or what it was, and we were watching the show together. But now my girlfriend is threatening to break up with me because i am not respecting her because I have watched this scene of the show and whatever other scenes that are similar in previous seasons without looking away. I’m trying to tell her that it’s just a TV show, The characters and people in it mean absolutely nothing to me and I love this show for the character development and plot… but she won’t listen to that and insists that I should be looking away if I cared about her… So,AITA for watching the show suits with my girlfriend??? For context, I have never done anything to make her feel like i watch stuff like this behind her back, i love her so much and wouldn’t do that to her. i was just tying to watch this show and get her into a show that i have enjoyed for years. before this we were watching a movie and i was giving her a foot rub, so i’m just so confused on how things could change so quickly… i don’t know what to do or if IATA?
SMALL UPDATE: I did try to talk to her and say i was sorry, that obviously i didn’t mean to look at anyone that way and that i would never think of anyone in a sexual way besides her. she just told me that i “should have thought about that earlier” and she’s “done”. she is now sleeping on the couch…
