AITA for asking my roommate to stop making jokes after she saw me naked?

So I (19M) live with my roommate (20F) who likes to keep the temperature in the apartment quite toasty. One night I was tossing and turning trying to sleep in the head but just couldn’t. I even tried to sleep naked but it was just too hot.

Well I figured since it was 3 in the morning I could just walk out naked and turn the temperature down (the thermostat is right between out rooms). As soon as I was about to head back to my room she exits hers and sees my entire front. She immediately starts laughing and I disappear back into my room. I thought that was the end of it and I tried to laugh it off although I was embarrassed to be seen naked by a girl.

Since then she has been making jokes nonstop and roasting me. I tried to take it on the chin but she won’t stop. Eventually I kind of confronted her about it and asked her to ease off. She told me I should wear clothes then. Things have been kind of awkward between us and I wonder if I should apologize.

  1. INFO, Just out of curiosity, what kind of jokes is she making? Like, disparaging jokes about your body? Or just “haha watch out op might be naked” jokes? I could see the latter as just trying to defuse an awkward situation potentially.

      1. That’s really gross of her to do, even if it was stupid of you to walk around naked. Hope she gets over it soon.

  2. ESH

Who walks around naked in a shared apartment where nudity isn’t the norm? Buy a robe like a normal roommate.

    She needs to lay off.

  3. Edited to YTA based on your replies to this comment.

You think she should apologize to YOU for YOU walking around in shared spaces naked because you were embarrassed!?

ESH. You should have been wearing clothes outside of your room when it’s not ever been agreed that it’s ok not to.

She should just say that instead of joking. But it would be helpful if you were more specific about what the jokes actually are to be able to really judge.

She is right though, wear clothes in shared spaces and it probably doesn’t help you didn’t apologize.

  4. ESH. You shouldn’t be roaming around naked in a shared apartment. She shouldn’t be laughing at you.

  5. NTA but that being said.. when you fugg up like that (walking naked in an apartment where you live with other people), you’re gonna hear about it forever and that’s just how it goes.
Now you need to grow a pair and take it to the chin my boe. She’s in the lead, its 1-0 and you gotta sharpen up!

  6. ESH. If you hadn’t been outside your room in a common area naked none of the comments would happen. She probably feels weird now and making jokes regardless of their appropriateness are a reaction to that. Apologize for the awkward situation and ask her politely to stop.

  7. You wrong for walking around naked while having a woman as a roommate, you’re also wrong for walking around naked in a house thats not shared by family.

You not wrong for asking her to stop.

  8. No one’s addressing the actual problem. Who tf keeps the thermostat turned up that high over night?

  9. ESH. Unless you two previously established that you’re fine seeing each other naked, you shouldn’t walk around in public areas of the house like that. And she’s TA for making jokes.
