Costco parking lots are notoriously hectic on the weekends. While I was waiting for someone to finish loading their car and vacate their spot, I was pulled over with my blinker on. This was a corner of the lot (tight area) so I was trying to allow others to continue pass me.
Just as the spot was about to open up and I was about to move in, someone pulled their cart in front of my truck and blocked me. He was already irate and upset that I was blocking him from loading his car. I never noticed him until he was directly in front of me blocking my truck. I tried to point at the spot that was opening up, hoping he would understand why I was idling and about to move. But that set him off! He stormed to my window, demanded that I get out of the truck while cursing at me. He wanted me to back up and move out of the way and said he would not allow me to move forward into the spot.
By this point other cars were jammed up behind me and having to navigate around us while oncoming traffic was coming around the corner. One of the cars behind me eventually stole my spot too… cherry on top of everything!
Is it any coincidence that “these people” always drive German cars (black Audi Q8)!
So you were blocking him from loading his car but it’s ok because you didn’t see him. YTA, you were blocking the guy while waiting for a spot. Also who are “these people”? I can just as easily say, “these people” always drive oversized trucks.
Like those stupid RAM things that don’t even fit into a normal spot and are never parked correctly.
YTA – waiting while they’re still loading their car on a busy day is holding too many people up.
NTA. The appropriate action from the irate guy would have been to first politely inform you that you were blocking his way, and ask you to move. He went straight to flip out mode over something really small and inconsequential. He’s TA.
Edit. I should have said light YTA to OP, bigger YTA to the other guy, hence should have been ESH not NTA.
Or maybe don’t block people like you’re entitled to a spot. What a weird take.
Obviously, but sitting there for a minute unaware that you’re bothering someone doesn’t at all warrant the overreaction from the other guy. The way you deal with this is, hey, can you please move so I can get in, THEN if the offender doesn’t move or is an ass, fine. Hence I vote ESH, because everyone sucks here on both sides. Party A for idling and waiting, and party 2 for being an onion skinned ahole about it.
I should have said ESH now that I look at it. Night shift brain.
YTA. I was at Costco today too and didn’t prevent anyone from loading up or leaving
ESH. It’s a real nuisance when people wait for spots to open up, not just to other cars trying to drive or people trying to load, but it’s also pressuring the people who are leaving.
Right? Some lady started waiting the second I stopped behind my car the other day. Hadn’t even loaded the kids in, and that cart was full. She circled around twice and then finally gave up when a space a bit further down opened up. I’m not about to rush putting my kids in their car seats and potentially screw that up cause someone is waiting for a spot.
ESH. You blocking someone because you wanted a parking spot is rude on a couple of levels. But he went from 1-100 when you mentioned to him.
YTA your the person that everyone hates.
