So this is my first post so I’m sorry if this doesn’t fit here. Anyways I’m going to give you some background, I stay up late. I mean really late, and it’s normal for me I mean I’m in collage and my first class is at 10:40 so I wake up at 10 the everyday for class so I can stay up late. My dad used to smoke cigarettes but that didn’t really work well for him so now he smokes weed, I don’t care or anything but this is just what he does now. Now to what happened last night or this morning technically. I was up till like 2:30 and I was getting ready for bed, my dad came in and reeked of weed. Anyways today it’s thanksgiving, and we were with family, I said I was tired and dad mentioned my late hours then I said what he was doing. Now everyone in my family knows he smokes weed so who cares. But now I’m upset because he keeps calling me a rat and making jokes like that. AITA?

So me and my dad never really had a good relationship, he has unresolved mental issues that he refuses to check out. It’s not like me and my mom don’t have them but let’s continue. He always annoys me on purpose, like this was the third time he annoyed me today. Also for those thinking it was a big family event it wasn’t. It was just my parents, my grandparents on my moms side, and my uncle on my moms side, and my cousin but he doesn’t even pay attention or care because he’s in his own world. Also my dad isn’t mad about this, I just thought he was. Well happy thanksgiving!

Ratting on your pops is crazy
YTA. People’s attitude varies and he might have had a good reason to not want some of your family members to know. Since you don’t have a problem yourself and don’t think he has a problem, I don’t see there being a justification. What I see is he said something annoying and you tried to pay him back, except with something potentially much heavier.
