I (22F) recently visited home for the holidays from college.
Everything was going fine until my sister (18F) brought her friend over for a sleepover. The friend is pretty religious. This is important, I think? Anyway, they’re hanging out all over the house, living room, kitchen, sister’s bedroom. I didn’t want to deal with that so I went to my room and decided to watch TV. There’s this show I absolutely love that I’d been meaning to rewatch before a new season comes out and I figured this would be a good time.
I’m a bit through the first episode when the friend barges into my room out of the blue. I asked if she needed something, but she basically ignored me. She was, like, fixated on my tv. Of course, with her entering so suddenly, I didn’t have time to pause. She walked in at a scene where the main characters (two men) were having a threesome with another woman, before continuing with each other after the woman tired out. The friend was wide eyed and bolted just as I pause, and I hear my sister’s door slam a little down the hall.
I got up to apologise for what she saw, but I overheard her call me a ‘pervert’ and a ‘weirdo’ to my younger sister because I was apparently watching porn. It wasn’t porn, obviously, but I could see how she got confused. Still, I was a little annoyed at being called perverted and decided I’d just text my sister to explain the situation. We all went to eat dinner and the friend was glaring at me literally the whole time, and my sister was just letting her even though I sent the text to clear things up. She loves the show too- guess she didn’t want to be called a pervert too though.
A little while later, I was helping my mom with the dishes and I guess she saw I was annoyed. She asked what was up and I told her that my sister’s friend called me a pervert. My mom was surprised but said she’d sort it out and not to worry. She went up to my sister’s room to talk to them both and somehow it ended in a screaming match between my mom and sister- where my sister yelled something like ‘it’s not our fault OP makes us uncomfortable.’ I understand she didn’t want to upset her friend but that really hurt.
Long story short, my mom politely asked the friend if her parents could pick her up because she didn’t want her daughter to feel disrespected in her own home. The friend more or less obliged painlessly but she was visibly annoyed according to my sister, who came to complain to me about it after our mom said the friend isn’t welcome at the house anymore. She said it was my fault, and that I didn’t have to tell our mom what the friend said because it didn’t really matter. I told her it did. She told me that I could’ve sucked it up for a day because the friend is her only friend and now she fears she may lose her, that I was so selfish because I don’t even live here anymore so why can’t the friend come over.
I told her I didn’t necessarily want her friend banned but that she should take it up with mom. AITA?
NTA
It doesn’t matter what you were doing in the privacy of your own room. The friend barged into your room through a closed door. She needed to apologize and keep her mouth shut instead of stirring up drama.
Your mom is a keeper.
Not being an a**hole. Totally your sister’s friends fault here for barging in your room (with no notice or knock) to begin with. Also are they not 18? Like cmon. I’m sure they’ve heard and seen more at school or in sexual education class. Nonetheless she has no right to be “offended” for a door that she herself, knocked down.

>Long story short, my mom politely asked the friend if her parents could pick her up because she didn’t want her daughter to feel disrespected in her own home.
W mom (Is that how the kids say it?)
But basically, your mom is correct, you did nothing wrong and you don’t have to “suck it up” when someone calls you a pervert when they were the one who barged into your room and invaded your privacy.
Your sister and her friend are 18, not 8, and they should start behaving like their age.
EDIT: Formatting
NTA, the friend was being rude and your sister was allowing it
However I must know, what show is it?
Based on the description, I’m thinking Interview With The Vampire
Yeah I’d say so, can’t think of many shows involving a threesome with a new series coming soon at any rate haha
NTA. You didn’t get her banned, she got herself banned.
You are NTA. You are an adult and get to watch whatever you want — which you did in your own room with the door closed, thus shielding off anyone else from your choice of viewing material.
>*the friend barges into my room out of the blue*
This right here makes godbot friend the AH, even before she opens up her brainwashed little mouth to babble about perverts and whatever-all else she thinks Jesus wants her to condemn (in Christian love and without judging, ofc).
10/10 on your mother for having your back and doing exactly the right thing, sending the offending little missionary-in-her-own-mind home to the comforts and enlightenments of the 15th century.
NTA at all. Your sister and her wacko friend on the other hand are another story for themself. From being a fairytale believer, to barging in your room, to your sister taking that friends side.
Kudos to your mom tho, she is the only good one in whole story (besides ofc you as a victim of whole shitshow).
NTA the friend bust into your room with no warning, no knocking, no word, and she thinks YOU’RE the pervert? Sure.
NTA What if you had been watching porn? Adults do that. You were alone in your bedroom with the door closed. Even if she hadn’t said something where you heard it, barging into your room, glaring at you at dinner and then telling at your mother are a sequence of actions that put her in the wrong (and your sister for defending her).
Can you try suggesting to your sister that it really isn’t worth changing herself to fit that person’s small minded views on order to have a friend?
NTA, I would have had her banned for barging into my room, let alone calling me names because she saw something on my private screen she couldn’t handle.
NTA
What was the show? 😁
THIS IS THE ONLY QUESTION THAT MATTERS.
I’m thinking Lestat?
Edit to correct: Interview w/a Vampire
