It is my boyfriend (20M) and I’s (19F) first christmas together. I was super excited to see what he got me because I felt like my expectations were set to be high.
Anytime I said I liked something in a store he would take a picture of it. One of our friends said he had a list he compiled of my wishlist. And the weeks leading up our friends were telling me that I would like the gift that he got me.
We don’t get to spend Christmas together physically so I gave him his gift before he left. The day he was leaving I was expecting him to give me my gift, but I realized he didn’t have anything with him. I asked if he was going to give me a gift but he didn’t get anything.
I couldn’t hold back from crying. We talked for a bit and there was a miscommunication. But it’s been a few days and I still think it’s crazy.
He claimed a friend of ours bought the gift he was going to get me but when I talked to her she said it didn’t come in the mail in time so she bought a backup gift. Then why was it so hard for him to buy a backup gift.
The part where I think I’m an asshole is he usually buys me food. And he says a gift that he gave me a month ago was a part of my Christmas gift. So a part of me feels guilty for being greedy.
TL;DR: My boyfriend didn’t get me a Christmas gift when I was expecting one.
