I’m a simple man. When I’m traveling through an airport or a train station and I see an Auntie Anne’s, I want a sweet treat. So when my brother and I were traveling at Penn Station/ Moynihan hall in NYC a few days ago, we passed an Auntie Anne’s. I lit up and got excited and went over and asked for a cinnamon pretzel. From the place that’s whole business model is literally pretzels!!! So when I asked for a cinnamon pretzel, the lady told me they don’t have any. When I said “what do you mean you don’t have any” she just reiterated they don’t have any. I asked when they would be available and she said “maybe like half an hour”. She then pointed out that they have the cinnamon pretzel nuggets available that are $3 more expensive at this location. $3 more!!! I also personally don’t think the pretzel nuggets are that good compared to the pretzels. So I just started complaining to this woman how Auntie Anne’s always does this (which they do in nyc) where they just don’t have pretzels, but of course they have the more shitty, more expensive product (pretzel nuggets) always ready to go all the time. I probably complained to this woman working the booth for 30 seconds about how it’s very disappointing lol. Anyways, my brother told me I was an asshole and I wasn’t justified in complaining to her. He says she has nothing to do with it and it’s probably some corporate thing, but the line has to be drawn somewhere haha am I the asshole for complaining to her?
YTA. Leave the pretzel lady alone.
Yta. The woman was trying to get through her day. She said that you could have some in a half hour. You should have either waited for your pretzel or moved on with your day.
Yta for every single word of this.
YTA and could still end up on TikTok if anyone was quick with their phone.

you said yourself its most likely a manager issue.
penn always has the worst food services and selections. its more expensive for dryer/staler options.
YTA. I get wanting a pretzel, but sometimes things sell out and you have to wait for more to be made. Or what if the franchise owner says they can only make so many per hour so they reduce shrink. Complaining to the worker does nothing but make their day harder and more miserable. a simple man does not berate a retail/food worker.
“The line has to be drawn somewhere.” I don’t get this, the company crossed the line because several locations run out of a popular product and had to make more? And then they offered you a substitute if you didn’t want to wait? And because of that you berated some poor overworked worker who can’t even control when she goes yo the bathroom, instead of complaining to corporate who are the ones actually causing this? How is berating this person you drawing a line in the sand?
YTA you were not the first, or fifteenth, person to complain to her that day about something she has **literally** no control over. You’re not helping anything, you’re not changing anything. You’re just yammering at someone who isn’t paid enough to deal with your BS.
If this is such a problem that you needed to bother the employee, *who has no control over what corporate or franchise owners want to do*, then you need to actually complain to corporate. Otherwise you’re just an AH who decided to take their frustrations out on an underpaid customer service employee.

It’s extremely unlikely this worker is in charge of the schedule for producing product. That usually happens at the management level. If you had kept it to “That’s really disappointing. I wanted the pretzel. Bummer!” then you wouldn’t be the AH. Anything more than that is hassling an underpaid service worker.
