Hey everyone. So I’m not sure about this situation and need some input.
I recently had to stay at a friend’s house over the weekend and earlier this week. I thankfully found a room to rent so I left Tuesday night. While grabbing my stuff from her place, I accidentally left my rice cooker there. We finally coordinated for me to grab it this evening, Friday, at 5:30pm. She had a friend over and was watching a football game. I parked in an illegal spot with my hazards on and had to just get in and get out. I knocked on her door twice, greeted her, met her friend, and told them I couldn’t stay long because of the parking situation. I told her this twice while I was there and apologized both times. I told them before I left that it was nice meeting her friend, to have fun watching the game, and dipped. I was there for maybe 1-2 minutes. She sends me this later at almost 1am over text.
Friend: Don’t you ever walk in my fucking house when I have a guest over and think you can just walk all over me and not acknowledge me when I did nothing but be a good friend to you and was there for you. I’m sorry that I couldn’t do it in the way that you needed me too, but you were hurting me and how dare you think that you can act like that in front of me or my friends don’t ever walk in my fucking door like that ever again
Me: How was I being disrespectful? I greeted you and met your friend [redacted], which is acknowledging you, and told you twice that I couldn’t stay bc I was parked illegally and had my hazards on. And I apologized both times when I told you that. I told you both to have fun watching the game and then I dipped. I do appreciate you being a good friend. I’m sorry I had to leave quickly, I just didn’t want to get a ticket. It wasn’t my intent to be disrespectful. Regardless though, you can’t ever talk to me and swear at me like that over text or in-person again.
I’m at a loss and genuinely confused. Was I being rude by not there long enough? Is the text I sent to her toxic? Advice is appreciated on how to handle this type of thing in the future.
