AITA for telling my brother not to overreact when my sister accidentally dropped an f bomb

So a few minutes ago my younger sister was showing me some YouTube Shorts comments. While looking through them, she accidentally said the f-word. She immediately started crying and apologizing, and I didn’t overreact because I could tell she didn’t mean it.

But my younger brother completely lost it. He started saying that swearing isn’t allowed in this house and got really mad. I get that we have rules about swearing, but she genuinely didn’t mean it and was really sorry. I feel like he overreacted, and now I don’t know how I’m supposed to handle it.
So, AITA here?

  1. Do your parents/you/others come down really hard on your brother for swearing/breaking other small rules? Is he always so extreme about family rules?

Probably NTA though not a lot of context. But just telling your brother not to overreact is pretty mild response as well so the chances you are coming down too hard on your brother for overreact is low?

    1. My family doesn’t swear that often unless it’s my dad and my sister doesn’t swear at all I know it was accidental but I don’t know why my brother reacted like that plus my dad usually swears like does the d word or the h word or something like that but none of us really swear that bad but none of us really swear that bad

      1. Are you talking about “damn” and “hell”? Because if those are considered swear words in your household, it goes a long way to explaining why your sister cried after she said “fuck”.

      2. Bursting into tears is an overreaction from your sister, so it sounds like she’s used to SOMEONE coming down incredibly hard on swearing. It’s pretty worrying.

      1. Swear words are the same as any other words. It’s just the way people react that causes problems. Tell your brother to calm tf down & grow tf up.

  2. Neither of you are a parent so it’s not your job to parent her. Your brother was massively out line and needs to learn the Art of Minding Your Own Business.

  3. >She immediately started crying and apologizing …

So your sister said fuck and was immediately so scared of the consequences that she started *crying*?

That is some fucked up shit.

At best, that rated a fucking “oops, sorry”. What the fuck is going on in your fucking family that your sister is that fucking scared? Who is she scared of?

NTA, and look out for your sister.

  4. An accident. My mam never minded if we stubbed our toe and swore. She always said there was a difference between swearing infront of someone and swearing at someone
