WIBTA for taking my spare key back even though I have another set of keys?

I have multiple spare keys because I myself am very forgetful. I don’t mind others using my keys to get the mail or if they can’t find theirs keys and quickly need to leave. But my roommate has been using one of my spare keys for over a week because they couldn’t find theirs. I turned a blind eye but I am working on being more conscious of my belongings and recently have asked them to copy the keys on the way home because I paid for my spares and I don’t like the idea of them potentially being lost. They did not do it even after agreeing, WIBTA if I took my spare back even though I have multiple sets of keys?

  1. NTA. roommate’s carelessness is disrespectful towards shared space. boundaries need to be set for the sake of your belongings and peace of mind

  2. I’m ready for the down votes, YTA-if you took it back because you have multiples. Tell them if they don’t make it by a certain day that you’re taking it back whether they have it done or not.

  3. NTA

They’re your keys and your request that your roommate make their own copies was more than reasonable

  4. nta. a week is plenty of time to make a copy, especially since they said they would. i’d want my spare back too, lost keys are a headache.

  5. NTA. Your roommate is being TA because they won’t go copy the key in a timely manner. Maybe it’s a bit petty to demand the keys back, but it’s not unreasonable. I would phrase it “hey I’ve given you time to get a copy made, please get me my spare keys back by next week” or something.

  6. Just an FYI: a copy of copy doesn’t always work.
So it could be a little more expensive than 1-2 keys.

  7. NTA.

Take your keys back before your absent minded roommate looses your spare key and you have to pay to cut another one. Id also be concerned with where they lost their original key and whether it had any identifier on it.
