AITA for shoveling IN my neighbor??

My Neighbor has had 2 abandoned vehicles parked on the street for 2+ years, they never shovel the cars out when it shows (it snows a lot here) causing the street to become too narrow for cars to pass safely 2-ways. The cars repeatedly get marked for tow, but the people take off the tow stickers before the tow truck shows up. Overall, they’re a huge pain in everyone’s ass (confirmed with the other, not so assholey neighbors). This winter, they once again didn’t bother to shovel out the cars.

2 weeks – 2 F(\*&%#(\*&% WEEKS after the last snowfall (it’s been very cold so the snow hasn’t melted still), they decide to dig out one of the abandoned vehicles because the HOA and the city are putting pressure on them.

Where do they put the snow?

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING STREET.

This is not a little bit of snow, cars are stopping and considering "Do I really want to drive through this?"

We tell him, "Hey, don’t put that shit in the street."

He says – actually for real – " WHERE THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT IT?!?" – With a motherfucking straight face.

We tell him "In your yard like everyone else". – He proceeds to fill the street with 1′ of snow. Like the total piece of shit he is.

We check city code and confirm that this is against ordinance, we confirm with the local PD that the appropriate way to report this is via the non-emergency line.

We report it.

Police show up.

Cop: "They’re not home, sorry your neighbor is being inconsiderate. Bye."

Us: Are you fucking serious?

We move the snow back to the car, where it came from. Not on the car, but around the car – out of the street.

Cut to 2 hours later – THIS PIECE OF SHIT has shoveled all the snow back to the middle of the street.

We report it again – dispatch hangs up on us mid report. Call back, "I’ll tell the officer, bye!" dispatch hangs up.

2 hours later, nobody (police) shows up.

We move all the snow to the end of their driveway, effectively blocking in one vehicle. I pour cold water over the pile of snow, not a little bit of water, but about 5 gallons. JUST to be certain that he won’t easily throw it all back in the street.

Justice served if you ask me.

My husband thinks I took it too far with the water. I feel I didn’t take it far enough.

Am I the asshole?

      1. You only made one mistake… you didn’t fashion the snow into a giant middle finger before pouring water to freeze it!!

  1. NTA. Your neighbor is an AH and he’s putting others in danger.

But you are my kind of petty. I like you. Next time make sure to pour water around the base so it really freezes to his driveway.

  2. Only five gallons? You shoveled the same snow *twice*, I’m pretty sure they call that “justifiable” and no jury would convict

  3. NTA. Not sure exactly how this works because it does anyway where I live, but can you remove the tow stickers before your neighbour does and then replace them when the tow truck arrives?

If not, take a photo of the cars with the stickers on them and try to get one of the AH neighbour removing them, which is probably against bylaws.

    1. this is so big brain! I will absolutely consider this moving forward. Thank you for your contribution here .
