AITA today was my first ever time placing an order with Uber eats. I only did this because there’s a promotion going on on Uber Eats for $20 off your order for any order so I go and look I make a cart and I get to the end page before you place your order. Looking at the receipt that I have it showed that all the fees like the delivery fee were crossed out because of Uber one. And so obviously that coaxed me into putting in the order because my order was only $10.46. After putting in the order, I go to look at the receipt again. Tell me why now all the fees are there. They’re not crossed out they are there on my receipt and now I am paying $34.46…? Like I’m sorry I placed the order because of the fact that all these fees were crossed out with Uber one… now you’re telling me that I’m paying more than I was believed to be paying? … anyways, so I reached out to a live agent which took 11 minutes.. when I finally got connected with one they didn’t help me at all. They never even covered what I was talking about.. they just kept saying that they’re sorry that that happened and then eventually at the end of our conversation they told me that they can’t do anything right now and I have to wait for my order to be fulfilled..
Just the really big question right now is am I the asshole for going off at this assistant of Uber Eats?
Am I stupid for feeling upset?
Because honestly, I just feel like I was lied to by the app and was just being coaxed into putting in an order.. so yk, more money for them and don’t care out the customer.
Anyway, just please let me know your thoughts on this. I know that it was a lot, but I’m honestly so upset right now. I’m having the worst first experience with Uber eats… DoorDash would’ve never done this to me. Lmao😭
(Edit) you guys are probably right, I didn’t essentially go off at the assistant. I was just asking lots of questions about why this is happening and I wasn’t getting help with that. They weren’t telling me what was going on or why it went on. And for the promotion, there was no fine print details for this promotion. I wish that I could insert a photo but I can’t. It literally just said this exactly.
“ promotion – Uber eats only “ and then next to it was “$20+” …. I clicked into the promotion to see if there were any FinePrint details, but there was none to be found.
I’m guessing you just filled out the form without closely reading. This is a common way to mislead you and after you get burned a few times and learn. This is the definition of FAFO, NEVER trust anything that looks too good. It never is. The advertisers count on making money exactly this way, that’s why the fine print is required.
You are hardly wrong for feeling the way you do, you were essentially brilliantly cheated.
did you read T&C. maybe you had to order $20 to get the free part. YTA
Every coupon comes with a condition before applying, usually how much your original bill has to be first.
So YTA, obviously.
YTA because your post doesn’t contain any interpersonal conflict for us to judge, but then in your reply to the bot, you say:
>I went off at the Uber Eats assistant
That was conveniently left out of your story. No mention of it.
We have no details about the event you supposedly want us to judge.
(Honestly, I’m not convinced this isn’t a Door Dash plug.)
INFO: what is the conflict that you had with another person? Conflicts with applications aren’t applicable.
Did you pay for the Uber one? Because if you didn’t that’s why you’re paying the fees. Either way it sounds like user error
Yes I’m paying for uber one. My next renewal is on march 19th… I’m paying monthly. My mother was paying for the uber one and we never canceled it. But it’s my first time using Uber Eats..
YTA for going off on that costumer service rep/assistant. They didn’t cause you to pay more and probably couldn’t do anything for you anyway.
