AITA for asking my friend about scrambled eggs

My friends are mad at me becasue I (17F) asked my friend (18M) about scrambled eggs the other day well we were with a group of 10 people.

This freind really enjoys scrambled eggs (i dont know why) and since the conversation was getting a little boring with our friends i decided to ask my friend to explain his favorite way to make scrambled eggs. I figured he’d spark a debate about how to cook eggs, make the conversation less boring.
So basically we just started talking about scrambled eggs until the others realized. When i noticed the other conversation ended in favor of listening to ours like any right person I kept asking my friend more questions. I asked questions like: what spatula do you recommend? and what colour should I dye my eggs if i want them to come out yellow?

Ultimately with my questions we talked for almost an hour about eggs and then the conversation changed and the day went on. But when I got home i received many texts from the 8 other people complaining about myn and friends egg conversation. they were saying the conversation was to long for it to be about eggs.
A few friends even tried to complain saying the conversation wasnt nice since we have some vegans in the group, but I dont eat eggs and i had the conversation so its really not that deep.

Now my friends are trying to ban discussion of eggs from future hang outs because we talked about them for almsot 2 hours.

Am I the asshole?

  1. So you guys had a friendly conversation about eggs and all the people not in the conversation were annoyed or offended? Sounds like they need to take a step back. NTA

  2. Ppl are way too sensitive about everything these days insert eye rolling 🙄.
You need some new friends if they are going to stop you from being you and asking questions about eggs (giggles)
As for the vegans in the group pfft to them grains kill just as many bugs and grubs as meat eaters

  3. my head HURTS! 🤕 OH. I guess it’s from banging it against the wall trying to figure out what the point is?? eggs, really? damn it, now I’m hungry.

  4. NTA. That’s a long time to be talking about scrambled eggs. But the cooking of eggs is a pretty common topic of conversation and to attempt to ban this discussion is unhinged.

  5. Things that didn’t happen for 400!

If this did happen – tell your friends to be more interesting if they want to distract you from talking about eggs.
