AITA for getting my best friend expelled??

For context, I had been mutual friends with this person the previous school year, but this year we had grown so much closer. We‘ll call me bsf Miranda, her bsf Esmeralda, and the other person involved Marissa.

Basically we were a trio, with Miranda and Esmeralda being friends for so many more years. At this point in time, Esmeralda and Miranda’s relationship was doing really bad, with fighting arguing and backstabbing.

It was a Monday when Esmeralda sat by me at lunch and started blabbing about her annoying asf life. I’m not trying to be mean, but all she would do is complain about how she was so abused and mistreated. (I know her family personally and they are anything but).

Miranda got up to use the restroom. This is when Esmeralda whispered in my ear that Miranda would be bringing edibles the next day at school. Not in a snitch way, in a omg how naughty that’s so cool!!

Before you hop on my case and yell at me for not notifying anyone as soon as having this information, it is important to note that Esmeralda is a big mouth and loves attention. She has spread many lies and rumors that you always have to be careful in how much you actually believed what she said.

I asked my other bsf (she’s in a completely different friend group) what she thought and she said if I saw it, I should say something.

I didn’t say anything else to Miranda or Esmeralda for the rest of the day because we didn’t have any more classes.

The next day, I was in 2nd hour, the one class I had with Esmeralda. I didn’t say or ask anything about the “marshmallows“ but I did say I needed to use the restroom and asked if she’d come too. she agreed and we made our way to the bathroom during passing period.

I opened the restroom door, and there they were. Miranda was digging out the jar of “marshmallows” for Marissa. Marissa disappeared into a stall, presumably eating the marshmallows. I looked Miranda dead in the eye and asked “are those the edibles.” she looked away and didnt say anything. I asked again and she sighed and said yes. with that, I left the restroom and went to 3rd period. I was in tears and explained everything to a mutual friend who told me immediately to tell the teacher.

I told my teacher who texted the dean. During 3rd period, he came and took my statement. I told him how Esmeralda told me what would happen, and what I witnessed with Miranda and Marissa. I called my mom and told her what would happen, and she told me I did the right thing.

On my way to 4th period (Marissa was in that class with me) I saw Marissa being taken by the principal. One of Marissa good friends told me what had happened and I pretended to be shocked, even though I was the snitch.

The dean then took me out of class and had me write my statement. All in all, both girls were expelled for drugs on premises and taking them in the bathroom. (Only Marissa had taken any, but Miranda had supplied them)
