I (18F) became close with a friend a couple years ago and met her younger brother (about 2 years younger than me) at a family cookout. We had mutual interest, and I later asked her for his number. She seemed uncomfortable about it, but we still texted for a bit.
I ended up feeling guilty about talking to my friend’s younger brother, and things eventually fizzled out. The last time he reached out to me was summer 2025, and I haven’t really talked to his sister much since she moved out of state.
Now, two years later, I still think about him and am considering reaching out again. However, I’m unsure if it would be inappropriate because he’s younger, and I don’t want to come across as weird or disrespect boundaries.
AITA if I reach out to him again?
If you were 25 and he were 23 I’d say go for it, but he’s 16. Leave the teenager alone and date someone your own age.
