AITA for not allowing music on speakers anymore in our room?

To put it shortly, I live with 2 roommates. They both love listening to their music on bluetooth speaker on loud volume all the time. I told them many times to just turn it down a bit, then a few seconds later they turn the volume back up because to them, the music doesn’t sound nice if not on full volume. I am so tired of their freaking music and the noise in general, so I threatened them with going to the principal if it keeps happening, they stopped playing for now, but they keep complaining and talking shit behind my back. I feel bad and maybe unreasonable. What do you think? I think I am entitled to peace and quiet and they feel entitled to music so we constantly fight about it.

  1. NTA. Everyone knows it’s obnoxious to refuse to use earbuds in a shared space. Let them complain. You’re helping them out because if they don’t learn now, they will continue to have drama with people.

  2. NTA. Everyone’s allowed to enjoy music, but not at full blast 24/7 when you share a space. They don’t get to act like you’re the problem just because you want peace and quiet

  3. NTA, as someone who also prefers loud music, switching to headphones was an easy compromise when I lived with roommates.

  4. INFO: Could they do a specific time period where they can listen music on speakers, and the rest of the time on headphones? I would hate to have no space and no time when I am able to listen to music on speakers, but I would also hate to never have quiet in my home.
