AITAH for telling a fast food worker no?

I frequent a popular fast food chain maybe once every other week and I have 3-5 children with me at any given time. The last dozen times we’ve gone, the service has been noticeably worse with increased wait times, wrong orders and cold food. The last several times I’ve been asked to pull around and wait as we have a lot of kids and therefore, larger orders. I understand the need to move the line along but after a 10-12 cars go through after me, it seems like you should have had the time to prep our order and it gets frustrating. The last 2 times I have had to go inside as once we waited more than 20 minutes and the other time, I waited about 15 minutes and went inside to discover it was either never made or it was incorrectly given out to another customer. So when I tempted fate and went through the drive thru today, they once again asked us to pull around and wait. We had ordered two kid meals and three adult meals, no special requests. I explained my hesitation to do so and asked how long it would be expected to take and the fast food worker, who I get is underpaid, just stared at me then walked away to get a manager. They came and I briefly explained some troubles I’ve had with their drive thru process and he assured me it would only be a few minutes and then be out. I pulled around, waited another 10 minutes and they brought out our food with one of the fries missing. I didn’t bother to go inside and get them- we just left. I don’t want to be an AH but I do want to just say ‘no thanks, I’ll wait right here,’ next time. Is this unreasonable?

  1. I think 5 standard meals is a reasonable number for you to wait in the queue. That’s a genuine car-load of people (even if they aren’t all there at the time).

In my country we tend to have double “giving out” windows so that slow orders and fast orders can both (mostly) be accommodated.

  2. YTA. If you don’t like the service at a business, you stop going there. You don’t get to demand special treatment.

  3. I guess I wonder why you’re still going there if you’ve had a bad experience fully a dozen times. Just go somewhere else?

  4. YTA. You’ve been unhappy the last DOZEN times you’ve gone there? Go somewhere else already. Or, you know, go inside and order if the drive thru is so unreliable

  5. YTA to the rest of us, you are punishing the people behind you for their poor service. Find a new spot.

  6. This is a part of the drive thru experience. Your order is larger than most, thus takes more time than most. Everybody in line behind you should not have to be further delayed by you.

    YTA

  7. YTA. They ask you to pull around so the 10-12 cars behind you don’t have to wait. Or order ahead on the app. Or go the fuck inside like I do. Or go somewhere else.

  8. YTA. It’s standard drive-thru procedure. You still ordered 5 meals which is going to take time.
More time than someone who just ordered 1 meal or a drink.

  9. YTA for going through the drive through at all with that large order.

Just get out of the car and go into the restaurant like a decent human being.
