I have a friend who drives a tour bus for a living. So we rarely see each other except for the occasions when he happens to have a tour in my city. Usually he’s only here for one night then he leaves in the morning.
So anyways he tells that he will be close to my city and that he would like to hang out. I ask him how far and he gives me an address to a hotel about 2 hours away from me. So I tell him that I don’t think I want to come as I don’t really feel like driving that far especially in the snow. He begs me to come and says that he doesn’t know when the next time he will be able to see me because he has no upcoming dates near me for the next few months to a year.
I agree to come. Mind you he has been up all night driving until the point that I come meet him (about 7 hour drive). When I get to the hotel room he lets me in. He has a movie playing. I sit down on the couch, he crawls into bed. I attempt to make conversation with him but he doesn’t really respond to my attempts at a conversation so I figure maybe he is really into this movie so I will just watch and not talk. So about 2 hours later after the movie is over. I’m thinking okay now maybe we can interact a bit but no he turns over and proceeds to close his eyes and starts falling asleep. I ask him are you about to go to sleep. He says yea I think so. So I just gather my belongs and head out without saying bye and proceed to drive back home. He called and asked why I left and I told him if he wanted to watch a movie in silence then go to sleep why did he have me come over and he said he thought that it would be fine. Idk should I be a little more lenient because he was driving all night? I don’t know..
NTA He was hoping you’ll jump to bed with him.
Falling asleep is a very bad move if that was what he was hoping for.
It took me reading to the end to understand that the “date” you stormed out of was the visit with a friend. Based on the title, I expected you to say you bailed on a date to go hang out with the tour bus driver haha.
Nevertheless, NTA.
I thought the exact same thing
