I have been really sick and unable to get to the barber shop. This sickness is a result of having major surgery.
My personal barber charges $28 for a cut. But I’ll be having him come to my house to get my haircut. He won’t tell me a price because we have a 13 year customer relationship. He’s the only barber I use for the past 13 years.
There is no way I’d pay him $28 when he has to drive to my house.
How much would you pay in this case ?
50-60, assuming he’s a short distance from your house
He’s a short distance. Roughly 7 miles.
I’m thinking $2 a mile, plus regular rate and tip. It’s nice that he’s willing to do it, but you don’t want to go bankrupt over a haircut either.
If you go to their house it’s actually supposed to be cheaper since they’re cutting out the middle man when running a solo shop. But if he’s coming to yours that’s more of a special concierge service.
I’d say $40 including tip. Just vacuum your bathroom after.
If you usually pay 28 including tip, 50 if it were me.
$75-100 he’s missing out on 2-3 haircuts by taking the time to drive to your house and back.
$60 minimum. Good haircuts around me cost $40 before tip and that’s at a shop. (Bald fade)
Personally, I wouldn’t go any higher than a hundo if you’re typical cut is $28
I bet he is not willing to tell you a price because he plans to cut your hair for no cost. That is what I would do for a long standing client that recently had major surgery.
He came here before ( once ) and refused to take payment. So you’re right. However, I told him to please accept payment next time. He’s the best barber I’ve had cut my hair.
I thought this, too, otherwise he would just tell you the price. Just hand him a $50 bill, or something simple and easy to hand him.
Give him an amazon gift card for $100 and tell him to use it for presents. That way you’re technically not paying him and it may be easier for him to accept.
++man If they won’t take a payment they will take a plate. Make sure they are fed and that should sort all other things.
You are paying for time more or less. How long does it take for the barber to do the haircut for $28 + gratuity? Factor that in with the 7mile trip each way. Don’t break yourself over it but it’s the Barber that’s helping you out. They may do it for free because you’re not feeling well but I think that’s a fair breakdown.
