AITA for saying no to my friend who wanted to keep my dog over Christmas?

She offered to dogsit while we both travel, but her small apartment and busy schedule aren’t a good fit for my senior dog’s routine and medication. I booked a professional sitter instead. She’s now offended and says I don’t trust her. AITA for choosing what’s best for my dog?

Your dog’s needs come first. Choosing a sitter who can handle a senior dog’s routine and medication isn’t a personal attack. It’s responsible pet ownership. Feeling offended doesn’t make her entitled to your dog.

    1. This! The situation is entirely about the safety of the dog, OP, your friend needs to stop making it about her. It is not.

And you made the right choice, OP. I wouldn’t care how many friends like her I offend, I’d rather have a safe dog

    Huh?

    Anyway…..NTA

Why would you looking out for your dog make you the a/h?

  3. NTA. You’re putting your dog’s needs first, which is responsible. Choosing a sitter who can properly care for a senior dog isn’t about trust it’s about what’s best for them.

  4. NTA. You are being a responsible owner. Choosing a professional ensures your dog is safe and your friend is relieved of a massive responsibility she isn’t equipped for. If she’s offended, that’s about her ego, not your dog’s well-being.
