My son’s school has two drop off lanes. The one on the left is for passing, but parents regularly stop in that lane to drop their kids off. I was in the right lane I had just dropped off my son. There was a car coming up in the left lane so I waited and as soon as they were passing I started to turn into the left lane and then they stopped so now I’m at an angle with the front end facing towards their passenger side doors. The back door pops open immediately and a boy jumps out. He’s standing there looking inside the car I wait for a few seconds but he’s just standing there so I’m thinking he must be talking to his mom or something. The cars in my lane go at this point so I start cutting my wheel to get back into my lane so I can go ahead and pass and as soon as I start cutting my wheel and pulling around another boy jumps out of the car and comes out from behind his brother and almost runs face first into the side of my car. I was going slow not speeding. I started pulling forward when that first boy was just standing there and I didn’t see the second yet. I get passed the car and the lady starts blowing her horn and speeds up to get beside me and starts cussing me out. Am I the asshole?
NTA this was her fault BUT even though she broke the rules you gotta still yield to children’s lives.
ESH The other driver should not have stopped in the passing lane & created a situation where her kids were crossing the drop-off lane. They are the initial arse. But you knew at least one kid was getting out & should not have passed. You should have waited. You just compounded the arseholery.

The other mom sucks for doing what she did. You should have waited until the kid was safely out of the way.
If school staff was there they should have stopped all traffic until kid was somewhere safe.
