Today I (17F) had just finished eating dinner with my parents, when my dad told me to do the dishes and take out the garbage or else he would take my phone. He does this because it’s the only way we’ve found where I am motivated to do my housework (I have numerous mental health issues depression, anxiety, adhd, OCD, etc.) This isn’t normally a problem, but I am currently sick, so I told him that I wouldn’t be able to do the dishes. He got a little upset, but understood that it was necessary to keep everyone safe. He then starts walking off to do something else, but then calls back saying "You still always have to put the dishes in the dishwasher or sink." I didn’t hear the last two words, and thought he said that I still had to do the dishes. I was really confused and said "What?" in a bewildered tone. My dad started yelling at me about something, but I don’t really remember what he said because I kinda spaced out. He then goes over to my mom and says "I can’t be this person anymore!" While he was saying this, I went to take out the garbage to try and let things settle down. I came back 4 minutes later, and my dad is upstairs while my mom does the dishes. I ask her if I did something, and she said I was rude.
I know my dad has a lot of stuff going on in his life but I just can’t tell if it was what I said or something I did earlier without knowing, and it’s making me really upset, so any thoughts would be helpful. AITA?
