Hello Reddit. I recently bought multiple floor seats for a concert happening later this year. I bought several tickets upfront because I knew multiple people would likely be interested, and afterward I asked my friends if they wanted to go. They agreed, and the plan was that they would pay me back for their tickets.
They haven’t paid me yet. Recently, they noticed how much the tickets are currently reselling for and asked me to resell their tickets and send them the money instead of attending the concert.
I’m unsure how to handle this. I bought the tickets intending for us to attend together, not to resell them. I also paid for everything upfront, and selling the tickets would change the original plan and affect my own experience at the concert. At the same time, they feel that since they agreed to go, the tickets should be treated as theirs.
I’m trying to figure out whether it’s reasonable for me to decline reselling the tickets and stick with the original plan. AITA?
NTA Your friend suck. Especially since they didn’t even pay you for the tickets yet, they don’t get to decide what to do with them. I hope you find people who actually want to go to the concert.
NTA.
If they have previously bought the tickets from you, and we’re now deciding to sell at a profit that’s up to them. Those would be their tickets to sell.
What they’re actually saying is “Hey, if you sell me that thing for fifty, I’ll sell it on for five hundred and keep the difference”. Is that a deal that you would take for anything else? They’re even asking you to do all the work in selling it for them!
However, the moment you sell to them at cost, they’re just gonna resell themselves. Or refuse to give you the money as they don’t want to go any more. You can’t force them to buy the ticket and go to the show.
Cut out the middle man. Sell their tickets for a profit. Keep the money. Enjoy a big meal and some drinks before the show and get yourself some merch too.
NTA, tell them to pay you first, then they can do the hard work of reselling the tickets. Your friends are TA
NTA — Your friends suck.
NTA. Let me get this straight, they haven’t even paid you for the tickets and they are asking for you to resell them for a profit? No. They are asking you to sell tickets they don’t even own. What happens if you can’t resell them? You’ll lose that money. They need to pay you for the original ticket prices now. If you want to do the work for them first get the original price from them, then you can resell the tickets for them and give them the difference. I recommend just asking them to pay you the original price then transferring the tickets and letting them do the legwork.
But you need them to pay you for the tickets first before you give them any money. Otherwise, they are ripping you off. They don’t own those tickets yet, you do. In what world would paying someone for something they don’t own be right?
Lol your friend is not getting any profit until he actually buys the ticket from you and then resells
You buy shares in a company.
You offer your friends an opportunity to buy some of those shares at the same price.
They say yeah, I’m gonna buy those shares, I’ll get back to you.
The shares skyrocket in value.
Now they don’t want to buy them from you, they want you to sell the shares for profit and give them the profits…
For shares they never bought…
Hell. No.
So you’ve to send them money for something they haven’t paid you for? That makes no sense at all. If you sell them you keep the money
