AITA? My dogs paw was injured under my supervision by accident.

For context, me and my boyfriend live together and been dating for almost 5 years. We have 2 boy dogs together. While he was working on a Saturday I took them to the park, they love going on slides. My older dog he’s 4yrs old was limping last week and 2 days ago he stopped. The oldest saw the younger one going on slide and he wanted to go as well. So I let him go on it twice towards the end. When we came home he was fine and not limping. After some snacks and a nap he started to limp again. That’s when I beat myself up the whole day. I knew I shouldn’t have let him as much as he wanted to. I just wanted him to have fun. I was upset and I told my boyfriend about it when he came home. He reassured me it wasnt my fault and things like this happen since he’s very prone to getting injured on his right paw, so I felt a little better. After dinner while watching our show I was carrying our dog in the sofa. He says “you should have know better” and I got upset he said that. It didn’t sit right with me. I understand I shouldn’t have done want I did, but the way it was said I felt attacked. So he got upset because I got upset. He said I shouldn’t have gotten upset because it was the truth. Aita?

    1. he’s a corgi, and his right paw tends to limp after playing. It’s his 5th time. We taken him to urgent care/ vet and they all give him a week and he does recover after that. They said it was normal

  1. Your dog is limping and this is something that has happened more than once recently. You mention there have been multiple injuries to that paw. Has the vet recommended x-rays? What kind of care is being recommended by medical professionals?

  2. I wouldnt say ur an ah since u just wanted him to have fun. but u rlly shouldnt have let him on the slide since he just started recovering from the previous limp. If u havent already, pls take him to the vet again to be checked.

  3. I don’t think you’re the asshole as long as this hasn’t been a repeat slip up. Just learn from this, hopefully that paw can get checked out. I am confused on how your boyfriend went from “It isn’t your fault” > “You should have known better”

    1. Yes definitely, and Idgi too :/ I did speak to him just now and he said it’s criticism. I don’t get it tbh, I love my babies more than anything and I take off all the time just so I can hang out with them. It’s not something I meant to happen.

  4. Wait! What’s going on with the Paw? The Pup is only 4 and keeps hurting the same paw? This is concerning. Was there an original injury or a birth defect? Has the Vet assessed the paw? Sorry I am concerned about the Pup. As for are you the AH, for me it depends on if the Pup has seen the Vet regarding the issue and your Boyfriend falls into that same category.

  5. YTA but you didn’t mean to be. You just kinda got caught up in the moment and couldn’t help but think of how adorable the pup was having fun. But yeah they’ll be ok. Just take em to the vet.
