AITA for getting my friend to dog on my other friends?

Hi guys, basically my so-called "friends" in one of my extracurriculars decided to ship me with one of my friends who I hang out with – I want clarify, me and him are JUST friends. Then what happened was I told them to stop but they clearly couldn’t take a hint so I started to rage bait them by playing into the ship and I made it exaugurated, but them being the mentally regressed idiot they are they actually took it seriously. Anyways, me and my friend were on call at the same time so I added him to that gc and we basically started to troll them which resulted in them getting mad so they basically flipped the whole thing on me like damn I’m js dishing out what you served. Anyways this post is lowk rushed – so AITA?

    1. You know the future where they show people speaking current English? It’s a lie, this is how English is evolving

  1. Apparently we are on a ship and need some bait?? Fishing for a dog??? Grammar police want it written as He and I are just friends. Thought it would be funny to be cruel to one and gang plank him?? IDK what kids are saying now a days.

  2. ESH.

Your friends sucked. You told them to cut the jokes, they didn’t. You decided to ‘out joke’ them. They found out and feel lied too.

Talk to them. You felt disrespected by the teasing. They felt disrespected by the lie. Admit to each other that there are better ways to communicate.

    1. Just to clarify, I’m kind of confused about the lie you’re talking about. 🥹 However, I totally agree I was being petty but I just can’t let myself get walked all over.

      1. You said you were rage baiting them by playing into the ship. If you weren’t into the potential relationship, your actions were a lie.

example : “Yes I totally love Tommy! He has the dreamiest eyes ever. I should completely date him” all while you don’t even like him romantically, you aren’t all that fond of his eyes, and you are just playing up the idea of Tommy being a potential dateable for a reaction.

        1. Ohh yeah I see, to be honest I did that because I knew they wanted a negative reaction out of me so I just took that course of action but I do see your point, you’re right – tysm!!

          1. Ugh. They were looking for drama where there wasn’t any. I don’t miss those days. I am sure way back when dinosaurs roamed and I walked to school uphill both ways in the snow while drinking out of a hose, I must have done similar things as your friends, and reacted in similar ways to you.

Good luck with your friends! I hope everything works out. If you lose friends over something so silly, they might not have been the right people for you.
