AITA for having the same anniversary month as my mom?

I (38F) am planning to marry my fiancé soon, we have already selected a venue and are doing all the preparation things. I told my mother (55f) that we called the venue and all that and her immediate reaction was to say that the month of June is OUT for her because that is the month she got married. Her anniversary is June 29th mine would be June 13th. This has blown up into an entire argument for us, but my Fiancé is really insistent on June. AITA?

    1. My other question was has the mom lost relationships with friends or relatives in the past because of her bonkers demand? I bet the answer is yes, especially with June being a *big* month in wedding season.

    2. Seriously, need to know because my parents’ wedding anniversary is June 29th and I need to know if I need to put them in Witness Protection.

    1. And isn’t June one of the more popular months for weddings, because of the weather\*? Hey people, no one can have a May birthday, because it’s my month. Those of you making babies, plan accordingly.

  1. NTA – you don’t get to claim a month for ANYTHING. Birthday, anniversary, anything.

Your mom is being selfish and unreasonable.

However, is your fiance also being ‘insistent’ for another reason? Why June? I mean if it’s ‘this is the best date for the venue and our other work/family plans’ then sure, but the way you phrased ‘insistent on June’ sounds weird.

    Also…what do YOU want?

  2. June is literally the most popular month to get married in. Millions of people get married in June. Your mom has to be a special level of selfish to think that the whole month belongs to her. NTA

Many people go by whatever date the venue has available. The fact that you got a June date is kind of rare because those often get booked out a year in advance. Your mom is either incredibly self-centered or she is trying to stir up issues for another weird reason.

  3. My wife and I got married on October 10th, 1975. Our youngest son got married on October 9th 2025. We were a bit disappointed he didn’t get married on the 10th 😊. We were really happy he got married!

Your mother has several screws loose and should see someone about that. You are NTA.
