So a quick back story, around April/May 2025, there was a mini war between India and Pakistan over Kashmir. My junior in my school is very Pro-Pakistan and Anti-India. I am part Indian, I was never raised in India but I was raised to speak some Hindi and have some family there.
The Junior at the time of this shenanigans started to post what I would deam quite insensitive posts about Pakistan killing Indians and Hindus (I am a Hindu), I called it out to him and he basically laughed about it. I left it at the time with the thought that this was just heat of the moment and he’s showing some emotions.
As of recent he has been posting a lot on his story again. So I posted 1 reel on my story with the headline "Pakistani Defense minister opens new knock off Pizza hut." Which was a real headline.
He replied to that story "Bro, Indian media itself is famous for fake and exaggerated news. One viral clip doesn’t represent a whole country. Maybe question your news sources first before mocking others."
I replied "Bro, all due respect this is a 2 way street. It’s not just Indian media that exaggerate it’s also Pakistani media. When the lives of people are at stake try to be more considerate despite which side you are on. At the end of the day we are all humans, we might think different but we all bleed the same🙏"
He then replied "I agree with everything you said.
Just pointing out that empathy shouldn’t start after a post goes viral it should guide what we post in the first place 🙌"
And I finally said "I couldn’t agree more, empathy is definitely most impactful when it’s the foundation of the post, not a reaction to it. That’s actually why I found your previous stories so tough. It felt like that same empathy was missing when it mattered most." Pointing out the irony in his statement
He has now blocked me and some of our mutual friends are calling me an Asshole and that I should apologize, despite some of them laughing as well.
Am I the asshole? Should I apologize?
