What do y’all think? Should I have gave the ride since this was an unexpected event for him, or do y’all think it was ok that I did not because it was 40 minutes one way for me, so I didn’t want to spend 80 minutes on the road after work? The story is that his bike broke down, so this was unexpected, otherwise he usually doesn’t ask me for anything?
INFO: Where was he going?
YTA, and you call yourself a friend? Might as well tell him to fuck off.
He already did. Just posted it on reddit and shared the link.
So you are the type of person who won’t put themselves out for their friends in an emergency…. Good to know, hope this guy has other, better friends because you suck.
I’m sorry, where does it say “emergency”? I read “unexpected event”. I’m sure this friend has more than just OP as a friend.
I think it’s implied that if you get stranded when your bike breaks down 40 min away that the situation qualifies as an emergency. It’s hardly a regular day to day event.
Stranded? The post doesn’t say anything about the friend being stranded. Just that ebike has broken down. Friend can very well be sitting on his couch at home………..
If friend was stranded and if it were an emergency, OP should have mentioned that. But they didn’t.
Why didn’t u go get him throw?
Uber exists
If you could’ve afforded the gas, had nothing else planned, it could’ve been a nice gesture. He probably won’t come to you again though. Unfortunately /YTA
It depends. Was he stuck somewhere or did he just want to go somewhere? Was there no Uber? If he just didn’t want to pay for Uber, asking you to drive 80 mins. is a lot. But if he was stranded somewhere for some reason, that would be different.
Just? 40 minutes in an Uber isn’t cheap. That’s a couple of weeks’ groceries.
Fair, but it’s not clear the friend had a 40-minute drive. OP did to get to the friend.
