AITA for not liking a new group member due to his past actions?

For some context I am in highschool and a part of the popular group. We met lots of people this year who we adapted into our friend group and hang out with. One of which let’s call him “Johnny”. He is always bouncing off the walls, impulsive and frankly annoying (though I am one of the only ones who seems to see it). Every time he is in the gc I immediately remove him, he cheeses me. I might seem pessimistic but it really bugs me him being around. Despite being boring and dreary at the last party, he was invited to a second one. At this one of my closest friends was making out with a girl he likes. Johnny then walks by and slaps her ass in his energetic fashion. He then flexed it the next day so idk am I the asshole or not ?

EDIT: The girl was too drunk to remember and so was the majority of my friends but him admitting it made people start to see. I did not mean the popular thing in a douche way I just used it for context of the party

  1. ESH Anyone who says their group is the popular group and excludes others from it because they’re not cool enough, apparently, takes themselves too seriously but also Johnny is also an asshole for harassment. Why is this even a post.

  2. You don’t have to like everybody. And you’re definitely allowed to dislike guys who slap girls’ asses. Eww.

  3. If you’re the only one that sees the issues then maybe you’re actually more of a problem. YTA sounds like you’re jealous that someone else is in a spotlight lol.

  4. ESH/ NTA if you’re evaluation of him being annoying is truly accurate. At first you sounded in the wrong, but slapping a random girls ass is totally out of line. Call that shit out.

  5. NTA for not liking the person
Outside of yall not vibing right and him slapping a chicks a** (maybe crack down on him not touching others without permission…) if thats the worst “past action” and no one else, namely the girl in question, cares about it, whats the issue?
The point seems you just don’t like the guy while the rest of your group does, so what does that say bout the group you hang with?
Either ignore him or call out the issue

Keep in mind, being “popular” in high school means nothing out of high school, don’t let it shape the kind of person you’d rather be to please/stay in group.

  6. YTA you don’t get to control a group chat for friends. Removing a person without consent from the group is a dick move.

He was invited to the party- which I assume you didn’t throw. He’s not coming uninvited.

  7. Don’t turn into someone who peeked in highschool, y’all aren’t as cool as you think and real life is going to hurt. Everyone sucks is my vote

  8. You are NTA for not liking someone. The trick is not to behave like a sulky brat so you alienate your friendship group.

  9. If you have to announce you’re part of the popular group, you’re probably not nearly as popular as you think you are.
