So he has a dog that gets into everything if its not locked up and because of this, I made adjustments to where the trash bins are located. I bought a small drawer countertop that stores two bins inside of it, one for garbadge and the other for compost, which has successfully kept his dog out of those bins. Wasnt really my responsibility but it made the house look cleaner. But since it only had two slots, we just left the recycling out thinking his dog wouldnt get into it.
After his dog kept getting into the recycling I decided it would be best to place the bin inside the water heater closet which is already nearby the other trash bins. He didnt like the idea for whatever reason so he just brought it back out everytime i put it back in there so I eventually just gave up. As a result his dog would constantly grab cans of cat food, chili, corn, whatever i tossed in there even if I rinsed them before hand. Eventually we think he sliced his tongue on a can he took out of the recycling. I was blamed as he claims it was the cat food can and that I am an irresponsible cat owner and I should have just taken them outside into the recycling bin instead of using the inside recycling bin which I find ridiculous. I called him negligent for not keeping the recycling in the closet and told him he is to blame for this incident.
nta. your brother was removing the recycling from the room where the dog couldn’t access it even though the dog repeatedly got into the cans? and it’s your fault the dog got hurt because…the cat food cans is also recycling, but it’s different somehow???
i was going to say it’s funny how the only solution that your brother is okay with is the one that requires effort only on your part but since he literally moved the recycling into his dogs path repeatedly i can’t even say this is entirely laziness. this is weird! your brother did wrong and his dog got hurt.
i hope the dog is okay.
The dog is okay thankfully! He bled kinda a lot, and i was freaking out trying to find why he was bleeding but then we saw there was a cut in his mouth. He stopped bleeding now, but he is pissed at me. Im thinking it scared him to see the blood, but im still pissed off too now. I feel he is so unreasonable at times but he makes me feel like I am in the wrong all the time and it drives me crazy. His dog is just as playful as before so it doesnt seem he is in much pain
Very obviously NTA. You exerted a reasonable amount of effort to make sure the house is clean and the trash undisturbed by the dog, and you have the right to throw your cans wherever you see fit.
Crazy dog owners need to get a grip.
Train your pets or dont have them, people
NTA
Absolutely NTA! The dog is his responsibility and he isn’t taking that responsibility.
