throw away since i post my tik tok content on my main sometimes.
I am 30M. i have a tik tok channel where i mainly do random interviews on the street. one of my street interview series revolves around finding rich people and asking about their income. i then will quiz them on the average persons income, to see if they are out of touch.
yesterday i went to a shopping area in beverly hills, i spotted a woman who appeared to be in her 20s with a man who i thought was her dad. they were leaving a shop on the street and stopped next to their car which was a rolls royce, my audience always comments on cars, especially those so i quickly went over.
i approached the woman, i asked how much her dad makes and how much she spends in one month on average. i held up the microphone and she looked absolutely shocked and stared at me.
the man shes with stepped in front of her like i was about to hurt her, and said he was her husband and wanted to know why i was filming her and had a microphone in her face.
i then tried to explain the series, he scolded me like i was breaking the law and wanted to know why i would approach her when there is a "man standing right next to her"
because he was being a dick i said "because i wanted to talk to her, not you" and he responded that i should have asked him if he could talk to her, and he would have told me no. what kind of man in 2026 thinks another man whose a stranger has to ask permission to speak to their wife? that cant be a common thing?
she wasnt much better than him, she grabbed his arm as soon as i walked over like she was afraid of me lol.
he was pretty much telling me its disrespectful for a man to walk up to a woman, whose with a man. i have never heard this once in my lifetime?? i always approach women because they are more likely to talk.
i did notice he was younger than i thought after i got closer, so maybe he was mad i thought she was his daughter?
ive been pissed since it happened. im guessing its just rich snob stuff that i havent encountered.
or whats making me most mad is im a black man, i wasnt dressed that nice that day and this little white girl hid behind her rich white husband who then got mad i approached her. AITA?

Wow YTA.
Yeah unfortunately your intentions don’t matter. You can’t just run up on random people (women in particular) without any greeting/preamble/request to interview them without being an AH.
YTA and it has nothing to do with which one of them you approached or what color your skin is or how you’re dressed honestly.
YTA I’m sorry but if someone I don’t know approaches me out of nowhere with a phone and microphone and ask those questions I’ll be very uncomfortable and probably scared it probably had nothing to do with your skin color. Also the guy was just probably feeling protective if he saw that she was uncomfortable
YTA. You got in her face and right off the bat started aggressively questioning how much of her “daddy’s” money she spends.
YTA, sorry but they were probably uncomfortable. Not everybody wants a phone and a microphone shoved at their faces.
So you walk up filming people and shove a microphone at them? YTA.
YTA your whole tiktok content is built off annoying people in public, do the world a favor and find a real job,
YTA, it’s not that hard to ask people before shoving a microphone in their face.
YTA
> i have a tik tok channel where i mainly do random interviews on the street.
I mean, it’s right there in your opening.
YTA.
Maybe I should start a channel where I run up on random content creators, shove a camera and microphone in their face and ask questions to see how out of touch with normal people they are.
YTA. Don’t approach ANYONE you don’t know for content. Grow up.
YTA
Maybe you shouldn’t assume women are just spending someone else’s money
Showing your sexism there
Maybe it’s the Brit in me, but being accosted by a stranger with camera and mic already going, demanding answers about my life? I’m going to tell you whatever the hell makes you go away.
YTA very much if you think people owe you an interview. Race and gender don’t even come into play.
I’ve been interviewed by the BBC plenty times when they’re doing vox-pops, and what they do first, as professional journalists, is ASK PERMISSION.
If you’re not asking, you’re just a shtty paparazzi at best and deserve whatever reaction you get to your awful rudeness. How people choose to manage your rudeness is up to them.
People know other people are richer. That’s not some helpful exposé.
