AITA for asking if some has unlimited data?

Am I the arsehole if I ask someone who thinks they may have unlimited data to check if they do when I have run out?

Extra context for those who care:

>!I don’t use much data usually. I was on holiday, staying at my dad’s friend’s apartment, there is. I Wi-Fi there and I used up my 5GB very quickly. I was going to ask my dad’s friend – who mentioned that he travels a lot and has never noticed having to buy extra data – to check if he had unlimited data and if so then ask if I could use bus phone as a hotspot.!<

>!I didn’t in the end because my parents, who I was on holiday with forbid me. They told me it was incredibly rude and my dad’s friend might cut toes with me forever if I did ask. In my point of view, if he did have unlimited data (like I suspect), then itveoild cost him only a few seconds to let me use it.!<

  1. “am I TAH if I am a cheapskake that expects unlimited plan of someone else equal my free internet?”

    Yes.

  2. If it was your friend, youʻd be fine to ask. Since itʻs your dadʻs friend, let him manage the relationship. If he doesnʻt want you to ask, then donʻt. NAH. (Also, is it normal not to have actual wifi in this location? That seems odd.)

  3. Imagine going on vacation, burning up 5gb of data trying to find that perfect PH video, then asking your dad’s friend if you could use HIS network for your gooning

  4. I mean I wouldn’t say ur gonna be an asshole for asking, but I would be shy to ask bc like I finished my own data and now wanna use someone else’s data? and my dad’s friend data at that but if it was a friend’s then it’s fine

  5. Asking someone to play hotspot for a prolonged period of time is an AH move.

How did you burn 5gb of data?

    YTA
