Writing this from my throwaway account obv
Hello redditors!
I am an older, currently unemployed man, living in a poor country, where tenements still have public toilets on corridors.
Unfortunatelly I live in one such building.
Now, as you can imagine, living this way is not particularly easy, and as if sharing the toilet with neighbours from my floor wasn’t hard enough, there’s this one man, from the floor just above mine, who illegaly comes to use bathroom on my floor, claiming the one on his floor is haunted or sth like that.
Now, he’s the man with no family or friends, so I personally believe he actually only does this to see me and my other neighbour from the same floor (he sees us as friends, even tho neither of us really likes him), but I do not care for his actual reasoning. This bathroom is only meant for people from our floor, and he is blocking access to it, plus I am pretty sure he is stealing the lightbulbs, and so whenever I see him trying to go in there, I get really angry and yell at him to get the fuck out of there, because he does not live there but upstairs, and other profanities, and yet he still keeps coming back.
Recently however, I am maybe too mean for him. So what do you think, AITA?
I don’t know if you were too mean or not, but the AH is almost always the guy who thinks he’s an exception to the rules.

Does he leave the bathroom in bad condition? Did it Cross your mind that this guy may be on the spectrum?
Yta. You admit the poor guy is lonely and only coming down to have an excuse to talk with you. Did you try to have a civil conversation with him about why he shouldn’t use that bathroom and that he can come down just to talk and use his own toilet upstairs? If you did try talking to him respectfully first and it didn’t work, then I would have to assume based on the haunted excuses he makes that he is probably mentally ill. Why have to realize that mental and physical health is a blessing that not all people are fortunate enough to have and give grace to those that are suffering from ailments. One day you or your family member could be that same lonely old man looking for a friend.
PTA? (possibly the asshole??) could he be mentally handicapped or something? is he leaving it dirty? i understand being upset that hes there but like… its a bathroom and its not like hes homeless or just some dude coming from outside. at least he lives there
