Okay so I‘m in a friendgroup of 5 people. Me 18F, Mia 19F, Leah 18F, Martin 19M and James 19M. (fake names) The girls know that I‘ve sorta liked Martin since highschool but recently Mia has been getting closer with Martin.
Today we were hanging out as a group and Mia was flirting with Martin and it was obvious that she was desperate for his attention so I called her out on it and I said something like "Wow you‘re so desperate for his attention". After that it was just an awkward silence and she left
But I was just saying what everyone was thinking so reddit, AITA.
This is gonna sound mean but I mean it with all the love and respect in the world: **Grow up**
YTA
You weren’t saying what everyone was thinking – you were saying what \*YOU\* were thinking and expressing your jealousy because you wanted his attention and she was getting it. You made things awkward.
I don’t know who else in your story could possibly be an asshole – since – you \*AREN’T\* with Martin – so Mia isn’t an AH for flirting with him if she’s interested, and he’s not an AH for flirting back if he’s interested.
I see you are just 18/19 year olds – so – you’re young and you have time… but my initial reaction is “Grow up and start to use your words to say what you want instead of playing games and creating unnecessary drama”
“but i was just saying what everyone was thinking”
respectfully, i highly doubt that.
you were upset and jealous, which is 100% normal because you like him, but the way you reacted is not it.
you sound like a mean girl in this post, and girl to girl; stop that, it is not cute and you will ruin potential relationships and friendships acting like that.
yta, but you’re 18, you can grow up and away from acting like this.
