Okay for reference my friend let’s call her AL told me and my friend SM about Al hanging out with her "friend" in the bathroom. Now me and only SM were told. Later on my other friend let’s call her JAY. Me, Jay, and SM were sitting at the cafe tables. Now SM was trying to tell Jay about what AL had told us. But here’s where I might be the ass hole part. SM has a big mouth and many people in that room were gossipers and would have spread that around the school. So I figured it would be better for me to whisper it to Jay because SM would have told Jay even if I told her not to say anything about it. So I did, I whispered it to Jay and then mind you. Jay and Al’s "friend" have sort of a history. Jay liked Al’s "friend" way before Al even moved here. Al’s "friend" never liked Jay back but at some points Jay felt led on by Al’s "friend". So Jay went to talk to a trusted person of ours. Which I feel like she shouldn’t have done. SM told another friend of ours we’ll call her LA she went and asked if this was true from Al. And then Al got info from another friend CI that after SM brought the thing up with our friends in class, Al realized me or SM spilled her secret and destroyed her trust. I was confronted hesitant to tell her the truth but I did. And now Al is still friends with me but not as close as before. Am I the ass hole.
YTA, you decided to share your friends secret almost immediately. Also kind of an asshole for the sheer level of convoluted text in telling the story
YTA. I mean, so is SM for blabbing when you weren’t supposed to, but you could have at least tried to keep SM from saying anything or said out loud that they weren’t supposed to tell a secret so it was very obvious what was happening. instead, you did the job for them and broke AL’s trust.

YTA – you betrayed your friend’s trust. I can’t keep up with this alphabet soup of friends, but you made a mistake even though you thought you were doing it for the right reasons. SM still blabbed to LA, and AI knows she can’t trust either of you with her secrets.
