My(19F) girlfriend (20F) and my mother all vape. We all started off with "true" tobacco products, cigarettes, black and milds, etc. and have made the move to vapes to try to ultimately quit, though as other nicotine addicts know, is a challenging task. My stepdad smokes weed but no nicotine. All three of us smoke in the house while my stepdad sits at the door and smokes weed and "blows" it out. A lot of the smoke still winds up in the house. This is regardless of if his young child is present in the same room or not.
Earlier today he came in while me and my mom were talking and threw his phone down in front of her with a study about how vaping indoors is basically the same as cigarettes yada yada. She basically brushed it off as it felt hypocritical when he smokes weed where he does as well as in his vehicle and in the basement/garage area. The house is technically in his name but she pays bills and utilities as well and my gf and i pay rent. We basically all thought it was bullshit but of course it is also biased considering we are the vapers. It felt very passive aggressive to show a study instead of having a conversation about it and it became a fight. We are all in agreement that it is bs and was nothing more than to start a fight but i figured i would ask reddit and see what you all have to say about the situation. Are we the assholes?

His child is not here all the time, only on weekends. When he is here, I keep it away from him, though Mom and stepdad do not. Not disagreeing with ESH tho hust clarifying
In order to help quit, limiting where you vape is very helpful.
Even back when I smoked cigarettes, I never smoked in my house. When I transitioned to vaping, I still did not do it in the house.
Everybody needs to take it outside.

I think all of your are AHs for smoking in the house. Vaping isn’t as bad as smoke. I don’t think anyone should smoke or vape in the house with a child present, period
Passive smoking AND vaping is not safe, especially for children.

ESH vapes and smoke are all bad when there’s a young child in the house, you should all go do it outside. If forcing yourself to go outside makes vaping less convenient then I hope that will help you quit 🙂

YTA. When you vape indoors others breathe it in too. At least your stepdad blows it outside.
