AITA for wanting to call human resources on my boss?

BACKGROUND:

I will try to keep this brief but I work for a highly esteemed child care center and i have for almost 5 years. I am a good employee and well liked by parents/children but my boss does not like me. She doesn’t really like anyone. She’s very disliked by pretty much every staff member.

THE PROBLEM:

I got pregnant earlier this year, i announced at 12 weeks publicly but my boss knew even earlier as i had to get my levels drawn weekly to make sure my levels were raising as i had a previous loss. So she’s known since probably about 6 weeks. I am now holding my little one who’s a few weeks old and currently on maternity leave.

Back in December (literally christmas eve) just a few weeks before my leave begun i had a conversation with my boss where i told her i would be breastfeeding (still true), i wanted to warn her because she would have to accommodate breaks for me when im back. She looked at me and said “I don’t have a spot saved for your son. I might not for months up to a year.” I was stunned. She told me i should’ve put in an application for him a she had heard a rumor i was quitting so she never saved him a spot.

I had talked to my other coworkers who have been pregnant/have children at the center and they said they NEVER had to put in an application because our boss ASKED them if they needed a spot. I am tore up. How am i supposed to return without my son? II thought about texting her and just appealing her hopefully nice nature and her making him a spot. She’s giving away upcoming spots to non employees. i’m thinking about calling human resources but if she gets in trouble she will probably hate me and act like it?

what do i do ? am i the asshole in this situation?? Would i be the asshole if i involve human resources?

EDIT: i never expected i would be granted a spot, all my other employees told me they were automatically saved a spot and they never filled out the form. Also ive had issues with her in the past she legit denied my bereavement for my miscarriage after HR had approved it so it was denied. My point is i feel like this might be me unfairly being treated and how do i approach this further

  1. What is the official policy on this? If there is no official policy, then there is nothing to report. You didnt go through the correct channels. As for other employees, that’s heresay. Check the employee handbook and go from there.
