AITA- My co worker wants to use my Amazon prime to order personal items???

Hi all! I’m new to Reddit and this is my first post. Anyways, my colleague wants to use my Amazon prime to order personal stuff and zelle me money after she orders her stuff.

I’m not comfortable with that- I told her no I can’t Do that and she became annoyed with me.

When she’s around there’s always eggshells and she has some kind of chip on her shoulder and acts like everyone owes her. I do my best to keep it professional.

So, am I the asshole??

ETA: I forgot to mention, I have occasionally allowed her to use my address to have things shipped to my house. One time it was for a surprise party and she had 200 candles delivered. The boxes of course didn’t show. She was calling me all weekend. I had to go meet her cousin b/c they put the wrong address and they were sent back to sender (her cousin). It was a giant fucking headache.

Another time, she had something delivered and it was large so it took up space in the mailbox locker/ Preventing me from receiving my own packages. Just **NO**.

  1. Whats preventing your friend from getting their own prime account? Cheap? Not your problem. Do i help my friends. Yes. But they are not acting entitled to my account.

    1. Not their friend, their coworker. I would consider this for a real friend. My coworkers don’t even know if I have Amazon Prime or not.

      NTA

  2. NTA

Don’t get into that habit. I can see if it was a one-off thing that only you had access to…but this will be an ongoing thing if it’s ‘personal stuff’. It’s just a hassle for you, you don’t want to deal with it, so no.

I mean imagine if she wants to return something! No, just no. She can get her own prime or deal with longer shipping.

  3. NTA. You are not obligated to intertwine your personal life with coworkers. Maybe you don’t want her purchases in your history. Maybe you don’t want to be the middle-man for any disputes over payments or non-deliveries or product quality.

If everyone walks on eggshells when she’s around, that’s a HUGE reason to not involve your personal life with hers.

Also, having an Amazon account costs nothing. So, a GIANT RED FLAG is somebody who wants to draw you into his/her circle for no apparent reason that could be legitimate.

If there’s one and only one thing on Amazon that she wants, you could order it and give it to her (payment in advance!!!).

  4. This is besides the fact because you don’t owe your colleagues anything however…You don’t need an Amazon Prime account to order off of Amazon…most shipments over $25 get free shipping. I cancelled mine in the 2024 Christmas season as they started delaying 2 day Prime shipping to a week or more in my rural area, making some of my Christmas shopping late. Unless you care about the other perks of the subscription you absolutely don’t need Prime to just shop.

  5. NTA.

If you let her, she will push the envelope (ordering items and “forgetting” to pay, etc.).

No good deed goes unpunished. Do not let her problems become your problems.

    Stick with your “NO”.

    Good luck.

  6. NTA. Your Prime. Your rules. Doesn’t matter how thin the pancake is, there’s always two sides. Stand your ground.

  7. NTA. Don’t start mixing personal things with business colleagues. As soon as something goes wrong with a product she bought or she needs to return it, it becomes your headache. Let her become annoyed. It’s her problem, not yours.

  8. You’re NTA and going by her attitude to others, you’re right to refuse any personal interaction.

This reminds me of a colleague I had years ago. Internet shopping was still fairly new and people were skeptical. My colleague said she’d seen a good TV offer online. she wanted me to enter my card details on the page and she’d reimburse me with cash.

I told her she could easily use her own cards, any debit or credit would work. She said oh, no online shipping is risky due to fraud and our other colleague had their account hacked (the frauds was true but he didn’t shop online).

I was like, “so you want me to take the risk for you?!” She was like “ but you shop online a lot anyway, so…” I just looked at her and walked away 😂
