AITA? My friend travelling overseas decided not to get sourvenirs for the fg except me bc of an “offensive” remark i made

My friend is travelling overseas in Vietnam and was shopping in Muji and decided to buy muji pens for our friend group. We have a group chat so she texted in the group chat asking what colour would everyone prefer however since no one answered her she said “Oh well ill just get everyone black pens” then after that message i saw her text and replied “NO” “can i have, wait what colours are there” then she answered saying “Uh who do you think you are” then i guess she got mad at me saying “NO” ? then said “Yes and I’m not buying one for you anymore, ungrateful little rat, I’m actually not giving it to you so suck it” i thought that was so fucking rude but thought she could be joking so i just said oh okay. Then a few hours later she texted in the gc again asking one of our other friends what colour would she like and i said “is this what a heartbreak feels like 💔” then she said “You ain’t getting shit, It’s your fault” SHE BLAMES ITS MY FAULT? im so confused.

  1. NTA – to me to “NO” is an obvious joke and that’s just your personality. If this person is your friend, they should know that.

“Ungrateful little rat” if your friend is being serious, they are so rude wtf

  2. Your initial response probably came off as a bit rude and you should’ve apologized, but she’s definitely taking it over the top.. It seems like she already has some sort of bias against you. I would say NTA

  3. What you sent was a bit rude but the response seems a bit over the top and is probably about more than just the text message. Is it possible that the this had happened before where you think it’s fun joking and she finds it rude or doesn’t have the same humor. It’s important to check in with people when you’re joking in this tone and make sure they are enjoying it and not uncomfortable

  4. I’m assuming you’re all quite young (14/15ish?), but what you texted was rude and what she texted was mean. ESH but, if you’re young, people often do just suck for a while at that age as they’re figuring out how to human. I’d apologize for being rude, but also not give her a pass on being that unkind in response.

  5. YTA. You all ignored her initial text and instead of apologizing for not initially responding you say “No”. When she said she wasn’t getting you one because of your remark you still had a chance to apologize.

Honestly you both suck at communicating but your remark is the one that started this issue.
