AITAH for trying to quit my team?

I am trying to quit my running team but my coach seemingly just won’t let me, every time I tell him he tells me I have to come back that next week. (Our school is weird about this and requires us to be involved in something and then stay involved in it)

  1. Stop running in circles and ending back to the start then.

Get a parent to write a note saying you’re willing to change to a different activity and promise to stick it out for at least 6 months, but nothing wrong with trying something and finding out it isnt for you.

What other things you want to try?

  2. I mean if their policy is such I can see a school trying to do something like this. Probably pretty hard to enforce, since you know… You can just stop showing up. How far would they go with it? Would you get into disciplinary action?

NTA for wanting to quit, but sometimes a commitment is a commitment, especially if you knew about it before hand.

  3. What do you mean they “won’t let you?” Just don’t go. What are they going to do?

Orrrr, change to a different activity.

  4. Nah, you’re not the a**hole for wanting out. If you’re done, you’re done. Coach sounds like he’s stuck in “just one more week” mode, but you gotta do what’s best for you. Schools can be weird with rules, but don’t let that trap you. Just keep saying no until they get it.

  5. NTA. Only you know what you want. If you tried the running team and didn’t like it, you can’t be forced to keep going. Have an alternative ready just in case since it seems like school policy.

  6. NTA.  Tell him you’re done and your decision is final.  When he says to show up next week “No. I won’t be there.  I’m done.”. Leave and don’t show up.
