What does he mean by i’m “helping him come out of his shell”?

My boyfriend and i have been dating for ~2 months now. He shared a screenshot of telling the news to his good friend. He shared a picture of us together and she was super sweet and complimented me.

Annnnnd bc he shared the scrernshot with me…i read other stuff he sent. He said, "she’s helping me come out of my shell lol". He’s a pretty extroverted dude so i’m not really sure what he means by that since he isn’t shy.

He is 30 btw.

  1. Maybe in forms of expression? Some people in relationships can struggle with being genuinely themselves with their partner.

  2. Introverts can be very good at hiding their introversion with extroversion but inside they can still be dying. Trust me, sounds like you’re exactly what he needs and he’s smitten.

  3. Lots of extroverts have a public persona and are actually insecure about sharing any depth, emotion, or vulnerability.

Lots of depressed people can “turn on” in public situations but just rot when left alone.

It means he trusts you and is motivated to see you more.

  4. Maybe he’s really a crab. Or a lobster. I’d suggest a DNA test.

But seriously, just sounds like he was making a joke.

  5. Its an extremist right wing dog whistle. Just kidding it means your making him more outgoing which means your making him confident which means your making him comfortable which is all good stuff good job.
