AITA for smoking in the smoking section of a casino?

I was sitting at a slot machine in the smoking section, this lady came by a little while after and sat down next to me, she automatically started waving her hands like she was trying to push the smoke away from her, I ignored her and kept playing, eventually she turned to me and asked me to put my cigarette out, I told her that I was here before her and even if I wasn’t, she chose to sit in the smoking section, she got all huffy and puffy and called me a bitch, I ignored her and went back to playing.

Was I the asshole?

      1. No.

Truthfully, I don’t see how you can even query that. It seemed quite polite?

I am known to be very blunt though. I’m a kiwi. We’re blunt generally.

  1. NTA

I get people can’t smoke in most places anymore (probably for the best tbh), but one cannot insert themselves into a remaining area where people are allowed to smoke, and then complain that people are smoking. The absolute nerve of some people. Yeesh.

    1. I have no idea where OP is at. But I was a little kid the last time a restaurant said something like “It’s a 20 minute wait in the non-smoking section. We have spots available in the smoking section.” Things I barely remember, and for the better. Any smoking section nowadays is an invitation to hang out with smokers.

  2. Nope. Fuck her. She chose to sit in or right next to the smoking section, next to an active smoker.

I say this as someone who has never directly had tobacco, mid 50’s now.

I would have told her to call the Floor if she wanted

  3. You’re NTA. South Park did an episode about her years ago. She was playedby Rob Reiner. It was pretty funny
