AITA for telling my housemate he still has to pay his share of utilities even though he bought some of the furniture?

Me and my housemate are going separate ways (he was subletting a room from me and I was the only one on the lease). So I brought up the utility bill folder which had all the bills and a calculation of the total amount we both owe by the end of our stay. When I mentioned that he said he’ll pay the amount after discounting various furniture that he bought for the house and the ones I don’t like I just sell. Keep in mind it is furniture which he picked out and I said alright (I helped him pick out certain designs from ikea) simply because he wanted it. I didn’t really agree to paying for it, although I didn’t stop him from buying it. With that the layout of the house was changed etc. and it was good for the 8 months we have been here. I assume he thinks I benefitted from this furniture in the 8 months enough to take responsibility for it etc while I move to a small studio I don’t have much space for. AITA for telling him I’ll pay him full for the furniture I want to keep (he is going back to his parents house to live while I am an international student), but the furniture I don’t want in the future is his responsibility in which I can help sell it for him?

  1. Im confused, do you not pay your utility bill each month for the last 8 months? Or are we talking 1/2 of 1 month utility compared to multiple pieces of furniture?
