Hey everyone, some backstory for my problem. My friend is about 30 and has a GF about 32. Both live at home with his dad, not taking care of anything, they just live rent free. My friend doesn’t do much to help out except I think clean and cook dinner every now and then. He doesn’t work (mostly chooses not to). His Gf is mostly a hermit, doesn’t leave the house and stays messy. Very controlling over him sometimes and lashes out on dumb stuff. He had one job and got fired from it for being sarcastic and I think somewhat lazy. He hasn’t worked anywhere in almost 5+ years I believe. Him, his gf, and others rip on me for being bad at games, not knowing how to play stuff, and telling me how to spend my money. I sent a meme about a job application, but he sent a meme back to rip basically. His gf didn’t take it lightly and got mad at me for joking about how they don’t work. I’m sorry but making fun of me everyday is okay but I make one joke and I’m done for? They’re both quite capable to work, but don’t do it. They’re not disabled or anything, and btw he doesn’t have a license. So AITA for joking about something one time? I did apologize as I said I didn’t mean for it to get out of hand.

The next time your “friend” insults you for how you’ve chosen to spend YOUR money, tell them at least you HAVE money.
Considering you apologized, i would say NTA. Sometimes it’s hard to tell how someone will take a joke. But even though your friend took the bantering personally, you realized this, said sorry, and you both moved on. It seems like your friend and his gf must be at least a little insecure about their job status considering this offended them so deeply, otherwise I think they could probably just laugh it off.
Don’t argue with people who cannot do a stupid easy simple job you do
You cannot change their minds
No yelling is ok regardless
Don’t stoop to their level to be an asshole
why would you want to associate with these people, let alone consider one of them a friend?
Honestly these people shouldn’t even be your friends. Never be desperate enough to be with bad people.
