Anyone who has been there have any thoughts on this ? I loved LA , and was wondering if Alabama at has a vibrant gay scene too . Alabama has a large African American population that typically doesn’t look fondly on mixed race or LGBT. Just be careful which area you move to. Stick to middle to upper middle class areas as best you can.
Yeah I dont think many people really realize this but the African American population is way more likely to be homophobic and transphobic than the white population. There are some DEEP rooted notions about that

Just out of curiosity, what kind of adventures do you anticipate finding in Alabama? Because I lived there for 10 years one summer and I found racism, cockroaches, and some really good barbecue. But no adventure.

You could go a little bit further east and be near Atlanta, its one of the gayest cities on earth. It honestly may even be a gay majority in some areas, though many may not initially seem to be gay or openly admit it. I’m not gay myself but I lived there for 5 years and had a gay roommate for 3 of them so I can tell you all the rumors and jokes about Atlanta being really gay are definitely true.
