AITA for not listening to my parents and wasting their money?

I 22M used to work for a company however I was on a contract basis so once I finished it I had to look for another company however as of recently the job market is pretty bad and I’ve been unemployed for almost 8 months as I’ve been struggling to find a job. Some background I live with my parents and both my parents are religious but I am not. My parents especially my mom believes the reason I’ve been struggling to find a job is because I’ve been cursed as I don’t follow religion. One day despite me specifically saying No, my mother went and talked to a religious leader and paid them money so that religious leader could sit and talk to me to "remove the curse from me". I said No and didn’t go for that. And now both my parents are angry at me as I didn’t listen to them and wasted their money.
Am I the asshole in this situation?

  1. NTA but you do sound like a bum complaining about what do and don’t have to do under your parent’s roof. If you don’t want anything imposed on you then go independent.

  2. NTA. I think you should point out that the most successful people in the world do not follow the teachings of any religion no matter how much they and their followers pretend they do.

  3. nta Up to you if you want to “have the curse removed” smh. Are they the type that will kick you out, though?

  4. >my mother went and talked to a religious leader and paid them money so that religious leader could sit and talk to me to “remove the curse from me”

Do wonder what it would have been like growing up with parents that are as gullible and/or deluded as this.

    NTA.

  5. NTA

You are an adult and can make your own decisions…you said no all along and they paid anyway.

    That’s their loss, not yours.

  6. NTA. Have you looked into a temp agency? 8 months is a long time to be out of work. Take whatever you can at this point

  7. NTA but you don’t know how to manage people.

Your parents are allowing you to stay with them when you don’t have a job. You should be saying “Thank you” and jumping through any extra hoops they ask. It will make them happy.

Or you can leave and live life on your own terms.
