So my boyfriend (26m) and I (26f) rented an apartment for a night out. We went to a restaurant and I couldn’t finish my dinner so I got a box for my leftovers. His friend is a manager at the restaurant and gave us a dessert for free but we were so full we took it in a to go container. Before we left the restaurant I placed both my leftovers container and dessert container in a plastic bag and tied it to make it easier to carry.
When parked outside of the apartment, my boyfriend offered to carry the plastic bag of containers since we needed to walk upstairs and I was wearing heels and was carrying a purse.
Here is where I might be the AH: I put my purse down and went to the bathroom to start getting ready for bed. I assumed my bf would put the plastic bag of takeout in the fridge.
The next day we decide to have the dessert from night before. I go into the fridge to get the dessert container and notice my container of leftovers is not there. I ask my bf where he put my leftovers. He said he never put them in the fridge last night and left them on the counter.
At this point I was feeling a little annoyed because why would he put one container in the fridge but not the other? He said that he thought I might want to eat the food when I got home and that he did me a favor to carry the container upstairs and that I should have been more proactive in looking after my leftovers if I wanted them in the fridge. He never told me that he was leaving my leftover container out on the counter before we went to bed. I was pretty frustrated about all of this and we got in a fight about it.
So AITAH for assuming that since he carried the plastic bag containers upstairs that he would put them in the fridge?
NTA. Quite frankly, this already sounds like years of weaponized incompetence waiting for you.
