AITA if I don’t go to my cousins funeral?

Wedding. Not funeral. Mistake.

I’m 31 years old. Live next door to my parents. We live on a farm. My brother received an invitation to our cousins wedding, with a plus one.

I did not receive an invitation. My parents did. I have not see one that includes me. Hotels are booked, but I feel as if I’m being assumed to be a guest of my parents, as apparently I’m apart of driving and trying to get off work.

I did not even know when it was until today. And it’s in April.

My cousin and I have spoken maybe twice a year in texts since adulthood.

I have work obligations and animals to take care of.

I, in my head, feel as if I’m not an actual party of the wedding.

Am I overthinking this?

WEDDING NOT FUNERAL.

  1. You’re 31 which would require an actual invite or note that you’re included in someone else’s invite in my opinion. If you don’t want to go, you can also decline even if you did receive an invite. Just assume you’re not invited and go about your business as planned.

  2. Why the hell did you say funeral in the title? lol

Anyway, what you need to do here is *find out whether you’re invited or not.* If you don’t want to talk to your cousin yourself, have your brother or parent ask. To me, assuming you’re invited even though you haven’t received an invitation, or been named on anyone else’s, is odd. But obviously you need to determine whether this assumption is correct before you start worrying about what to do. I mean, if you don’t want to go, and you’re not actually invited, then there’s no problem, right?
