I 25F own and have paid off my car fully. I take care of the upkeep and maintenance of my car (gas, oil changes, tires, etc). Ever since I’ve gotten this new car my parents have always suggested that my car would be used to go to places that were further out. Since their car is older (2012) they don’t want to risk putting more wear and tear on their car.
I would always go with them to these places and at first I didn’t mind them taking my car over theirs. In the beginning, my mom wouldn’t mind paying for the gas to go to and from said location. As time goes on she has stopped offering gas money. I don’t expect a full tank in return but it’s the fact I have to remind her every time. Now, we are always taking my car almost every 2 weeks to go almost 60 miles there and back.
Today, I asked my mom for gas money and she states that why should she have to pay if I was already going with them? I got annoyed and stated that I wouldn’t be asking if you weren’t driving my car. I feel that I can be the asshole because of how I responded but I can’t help but feel that it’s the least she can do if we are always taking my car. AITA?
