AITA for asking my father to not call my niece “cookie face”

This was on chat

>Me: you have to compensate with other things

>Me: calling Liz “cookie face” is literally calling her ugly

>Me: you seem afraid to understand that these things affect a person’s life

>Me: even Murilo admits that

>Me: I don’t know what to do in Liz’s case, her face is very round, flat, it’s not a sharp face

>Father: enough with the whining

>Father: I’m going to block you

>Father: go work

Then I got blocked afterwards

Editing for more info: Calling cookie face here is a type of mockery in my country, the same as callling someone a "fat face", my sister complained about it to me and my niece is afraid to say anything, I tried to help and make him change his manners, that’s why I spoke about it

  1. Info: did your niece express an issue with it?

If not, YTA. when i hear cookie face i think of someone cute, not ugly

  2. How are you involved?

What does her actual parents think?

    What does your niece think?

Why does your opinion override everything?

  3. NTA, his teasing could hurt her more than he realizes.

I have a sister who went through a chubby phase around 10-12. My father was brutal about it and used to sing to her “Come to me my melon-facey baby.” She started starving herself and has had an ED her entire life. I’m convinced it was because he was so cruel about a few pounds (should I mention he weighed around 260 and wore a 44 waist?).

  4. Why are you posting what is clearly a small part of a much larger conversation, starting in the middle, with no context? What do you expect anyone here to do with that?

  5. NTA, IF the neice or her sister has expressed dismay at this. If it’s just you assuming, then you’re the AH. I would say it’s the mother/father’s job to do this, but if they’re not, you’re not an AH for trying to help a kid. As long as that help is actually wanted. Otherwise you’re manufacturing drama, even if with good intent.

  6. NTA. I’m all about joking around and playful teasing, but the minute someone says they’re not having a good time, or even if I get “I don’t like this” vibes, I cut it out. I also never EVER tease someone based on something beyond their control, like their facial features, or weight, unless they initiate that sort of joking with me.

  7. NTA

You would have overstepped a bit if you stepped in without being asked.  But you were asked. This really is bothering your sister. You tried your best, but your dad sucks. It’s time for your sister to try.
